Default Lighted Door Sill -

Wow, I really don't understand what happened there...but Catalepsicfox did nothing that required him to be flamed. He brought a great idea and the manufacturer kept asking for more info. I did not mean to come across that way if I did, but I knew he wasn't making them. Everyone just got tired of keeping up with a list and making changes to a product that will sell like ice water in hell. Really, these cars are LED machines....so is the xB. Everyone is blinging them up.

Catalepsicfox, you did good bringing the idea.

As for the other door sill, he also took a look at the Lund door sill that we have on now. It's stainless steel and a direct replacement instead of an attachment to the old one. He thinks it would be easier and nicer to make a replacement than an attachment.

I told him to keep the cost of the units below $110 because if you search out lighted door sills, that is the high end of the pricing and alot fewer would be purchasing if much higher. He makes all kinds of things on that machine to include....engine heads. He showed me yesterday. Friggin sweet.

Anyway, he is going to do what he can and see if it works out.

Great Keep me updated. I would definatly buy one. I was going to get it from Catalepsicfox because it was a great idea and a good price. Cant figure out why he backed out or why the manufacture backed out. Oh well I guess he has his reasons.

i can honestly say that i feel bad (and those idiots that were impatient should too) for fox for getting flamed even though he was not even part of the manufactering process.

he was only a person providing input to the manufacturer. now i was one of the ones waiting patiently, and what basically happened was that those few people who were flaming due to their own impatience, angered a few higher people in fox's manufactering chain... and thus, instead of continuing to work on it and having people continue to pick, flame, obviously stay impatient at fox (who had nothing to do with it)... he decided it was better to "punish" those who did... and then you have people like me now, that are ____ed off at people who couldn't wait... i mean seriously.. it wasn't even two weeks after the list hit 100 when people started throwing the torches...

the maufacturer wanted to get 100% input. is it that hard to ask? apparently so.

btw, i keep noting the term EL and LED thrown out... the lighted sills fox was helping to design was EL, not LEDs..

what now..? sit here and wait some more..

I agree with you. The flaming that was going on should not have happened or atleast to fox. It makes me sad because the product was stopped because of the few impatient members on the thread. Shame. I really wanted these. I see the same impatience going on in the projector thread. I hope that deal is not scrapped due to flaming.

I guess we will have to wait.

Waiting it is...hopefully this will come through. Fox did a good job but on a project like this you can not please everyone, you kinda have to pick something you thing everyone is going to like otherwise...well you saw what happen to the other thread

OK.. first, the reason he got supposedly "flamed" was because of the way the business was being dealt with. If you are going to say that you are creating a product and that you need just a list of 100 names then thats all that should be needed. Not changing what you need after you have gotten what you asked for. Second, if the supposed person making the sills was a smart business person they would have seen the want for the sills and still made them because they will definately sell. This just makes me think that maybe they got themselves in a little over their head... Oh Well.. its over with. I will appologize to Fox since it wasnt him that was going to make the product. So for that I am sorry Fox.

But it is time to move on and see what ScionDads connection will come up with.

Ok....ok.....this does not need to turn into a flame thread and get locked/deleted. We are just showing our general disapproval that this product might not be available anymore.

Once again, you have no idea what your talking about. I'm not making them, selling them or stealing anything. I don't believe he had the idea of lighted door sills since they been around for quite a few years. I've seen them several years ago on Lexus, Benz....THEY HAVE THEM FOR THE CAMRY

However, I did find a company that makes the CAMRY one's and emailed with them for the tC. Stainless Steel and $25 (That's more like it). This guy sells the Mazda and Camry ones.

There is no need for apologizes. I should actually apologize bc I was overreacting on the first couple of complaints and gave some nasty comments.

Anyways let's push for these DoorSills. I'm sure these will come out great.
I'll keep running the interest thread for the xB people and let's see how that goes. I hope the same thing doesn't happen there.

BTW This DoorSill for the tC idea wasn't my idea at all. It was the person proposing to make it for the tC. Another thing about the Door Sills is that if you are overlaying the stockies it will be easier since the LED can fit underneath plus the wiring will be a little more discreet.

No way Fox...you brought it out and I know I certainly appreciate it. It's a sick option. You certainly deserve the credit.

If your supplier can get them to us, I would go their route. Although the guy 4 shops up may be able to make them, I just don't know if the price is going to be any good using a CNC machine to crank them out. I do agree with turbome on that one.

So I emailed a few dealers....in Hong Kong of all places, to see if they thought about the Toyota Scion tC. He said yes and the xB as well. He was going to talk with his supplier and get back this weekend.

I think this was part of the problem... People maybe fail to realise that setting up a production line for a retail product takes time and money.... (I hope they didn't think these were going to be milled by fox in his backyard... ) Handmade=$$$$$

I'd consider modifying the oem door sill enhancements myself if I had the tools.... hmmmmmmm....

Catalepsicfox didn't do anything wrong and not buy time at all. You guys are keep asking the same questions over and over again. You guys want to make blue, red, and clear LED versions. He already told you guys that only blue EL will be available. Also as well as the design, he shouldn't be the one to get flamed.

I'm just glad we have more than one person willing to work on these. It's probably more trouble than it's worth to be "that guy," but I can't wait to get these sills! I know people have certain prices in mind, but I'll pay whatever. $75, $110, $200. Just hook me up, please....I can't stop staring at the pic of the 350 Z's sills...

Well, I got 2 responses for the sills. 1 guy in Korea and the other in Hong Kong.

The guy in Hong Kong said to send him a stock 1 and he will have them made and posted on ebay for us within a few weeks. He even said they will have a variety of colors. I referred him to the Lund door sills for layout. They would be cool lighted instead of stamped.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Scion...spagenameZWDVW

The other guy said he will try to find info on them to have them made for us and put them on ebay.

Both guys said the cost would be around $25 "American" dollars

Neither guy has ever heard of the Scion tC.

I'm checking a couple other routes for low cost options.
