Default Line output converter, anyone using one?

I want to keep our stock HU, and we're adding a small bit of lowend that is lacking. Are the rear speakers difficult to get to? I would like to get directly to the speaker because I do not want to tap a wire, I would rather rig something up at the speaker so that it can be returned to factory without problem.

No, they are not entirely too difficult to get to. Mandos's Walkthrough shows how to get to them, you dont have to gut the whole car but he shows how to remove the back panel.

As to pulling signal off next to the speakers, well, you can do that, but it is just as easy to pull off from the head unit, and keep it to where you can return it easily. All you have to use are these little wire taps that you can put the origional wire in and hook a connecting wire to. Example

I used these on my car, they cut the wire and make a connection when you crimp the metal piece so no stripping and if you want to remove them you just push the metal part out and put some electrical tape over the small cut in the wire.

In my opinion it would be better to take the line out converter and put it right next to the head unit, probably the best way to do it in my opinion.

But either way, there you go.

I used to have one before I swapped the unit out for a nav/dvd unit. I have the loc sitting around the house with the wires all precut and ready to use. I'll sell it to you for cheap if you want it. PM me if you're interested!

It's the peripheral sven4 (really the best 4channel loc you can buy)

i used to use a LOC also before upgrading... i second the idea of splicing the harness behind the HU instead of splicing off the speakers. running 2 RCAs is alot easier than removing the whole back seat area imo.

and spect2k3... thats a nice LOC. lol

Well I can tune it well once, maybe drive around with the panel off of a day or two til I get it right. From there I shouldn't need to play with it.

As far as cooling, im playing that one by year, it isn't going to be a very powerful amp, so I don't think it will get very hot, and even then I don't think it will be pushed hard enough to get too hot....

get an LOC and wire it behind the deck. i use one and it sounds perfectly fine. our stock decks put out enough clean power to make it work very well.
