Looking for a component system

Looking for a component system
Hey guys,
My brother works at bestbuy and can hook it up with a component system. Im sorta on a budget. Heres what Ive been looking at and this is what he can get me with my price range:
Alpine type-s components : $55
Or
Alpine type-r components :$100
Which ones should I go for?
Im not looking for anything thats "OMG SICKZ". Just something thats upgraded from the OEMs. Right now, I have a rockford amp 4-400 @ 50rms powering Alpine type-s speakers (front and rears--without the components; since I got them for free). It gets more than enough with the loudness. The only problem is that I get a poppin' sound when the bass hits and the volumes too high. I think this is because I dont have components. So if I get a component system, will that get rid of the crackin'/popping?
Do you guys have any other budget component systems I should look at that will work with my amp? Im only looking for clear sound with bass that hits moderately.
(sorry; im a noob with sound systems)

so is it clipping cause its not a component set right now?
I tried that, but it gave soo much highs and tremble that it hurt my ears hahaha. idk what to do til I get my set.

Clipping has nothing to do with what type of speakers (component/coax) is connected.
It sounds like you've set the xover higher than 80hz...much higher. I suggest seeking professional help.

wait.... wouldn't his be set lower if the speakers had to many highs at that point?
so for a ~ 80hz the coax's would be recieving power > 80hz?, its weird because its a coax so theres not necessarily a hpf and a lpf?

High pass xover on the amp set to 80hz = frequencies over 80hz will be played though the coaxial speakers.
I think he set it too high (800hz?) and thus the elimination of the midbass frequencies, and the emphasized midrange/treble.
