Default Misc. audio wiring questions..

How can you tell what gauge a power wire is? My sub was installed by an acquaintance, and i cant get in touch with him at the moment to figure out what he put in.

To wire a NiNe.1 to a 13o.v2 d4, i run the wires parallel from the 13o.v2 to the amp, but does it matter where i wire it to? theres two sets of speaker terminals, and im looking in the instruction manual...and it says a mono bridged system...and it connects the negative speaker signal to a positive on a different speaker terminal

i looked some of it up on eD's forums, and it says i can pick either terminal to use, because it'll deal with it internally. i didnt, however, pick up anything about bridged mono
im guessing that i just wire the 13o parallel, and just stick those into either terminal on the amp, and i'll be fine.

also, my old sub was a svc 4ohm, so theres only enough wire in the box for one terminal. the 13o.v2 wont have enough wire to work, im short like 6 inches, so i need to know where i can find some wires for this (preferably in a small quantity)

take pics of the wire
size comparison (next to a phone, fork, etc)
and a pic that shows the copper in the wire.

Okay, so the power wire is definitely not a 4 gauge, so im guessing its an 8 gauge. my friend told me to measure it up against 4 pennies stack together, and if they're close, it should be about 4 gauge. it matched up to only 2 pennies.

which leads me to another question. can i install a Nine.1 onto an 8 gauge? (obviously it wouldnt get as much power as it wants). and question 2, if im planning to replace my components within the next year or so, should i get a 1/0 gauge, or would 4 gauges be enough? i was only thinking like a basic set of components (nothing more than $150)

you want to make sure you are measuring/comparing the actual metal wire strand width..not the overall width with the shielding because a lot of cheap-o wire companies claim their wires are 4 gauge but in reality there is only the equivalent amount of wire as like an 8 gauge wire but it just has a really thick outer sleeve.
