Default Mounting a Headunit questions?

For christmas I got an alpine headunit I will be installing it myself and I just had a few questions. While Iam installing can I mount the new headunit closer to the dash then the stock sits and remove the cover? If someone has done this can I see pitures of it please. Also Ive only installed a headunit ones before, could someone by any chance post a little mini tutorial of what I should expect witht the headunit wiring?

I'm pretty sure you will have enough wire to do this. There is plunty back there. I plan on doing the same thing with my new indash Kenwood DVD unit.

There is so much space back there, it isn't even funny... and the harnesses are super-long... so you'll have no problem pulling it forward...

Sad loosing the door... major theft deterrent and with the TCover, gets a ton of attention at shows....

With the space the door assembly takes up, the deck is really surrounded by space if you pull it out.... I doubt think that it'll look as sharp as you'd like it to without fabricating something to fill it in.

I would like to customize a panel that would hold my Alpine D310 h/u in place and above it, I'd like to have 2ea. X-box wireless controllers fitted into it... Anyone good at fiberglassing
