Yup, the PIAA's are coated not colored glass. I thought the coating would last longer, but they're so close to the headlight bulbs where there's a lot of heat they flaked.

I got mine replaced by PIAA since they have a 1 year warranty, but make sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

I'm gonna stick with the stock bulbs for now since I don't want to risk the new set flaking too.

i got the 1 year warranty too. i started to turn off my headlights now that i learned it flakes...but then i should make it flake, so i could change it and put it in my license plate lights. im not so happy on how the superbrightleds emit light from the license plates. i got the 6-led and apparently the light was emmitting straight, not downward to give more light to the plate. was it tough to have them replaced? did it take long?

PIAA headquarters is local to me, so I went to their office and they swapped out the bulbs on the spot.
