Default My new Elemental Design's Eu700's, Pics!

Here are some pics of my new Eu700's powered by a Nine.2x amp at 400 watts.

The subs sound great. For being 6.5" speakers, they really do get loud. Also I'm not using that much cargo space either.

A couple of questions:

What frequency do most people tuned their subs to?

Which way is the best way to point the subs?

wow.... i didn't realize how small 6.5" woofers looked in our trunk like that...

but i'm thinking of buying me a few "wonder woofers" myself eventually.

just wish i could get 32 of them..

ported boxes are generally tuned to 30Hz for musical quality... between 42 and 60Hz for SPL depending on what car it's going into..... sealed boxes aren't usually tuned like a ported box is, but different internal volumes will give you a little different sound.... best way to point the subs is either rearward or upward.....

^^ what he said.

For SPL, a tC will peak at 45~50, an xB almost exactly 55.

As for orientation...play with it. Just don't fire sideways...that'll probably not sound the greatest.

^^ actually, one of my friends has his ported single Eu firing to the side of his trunk, almost like into a little cubbyhole... sounds pretty good with the rear seats down (ina sedan)

You really can't compare something with 24 in² of surface area to something that would have around 168 in² of surface area. Yeah, the 12's will be ungodly louder in comparison. 700's aren't for people that want to drive around letting everyone know they have subs. It's for people that just want to have lower frequencies in their car and be able to hear them

^^ hehe... coming from the guy who wants to put 32 of them in their car.. "can you hear me now?"

yeah... umm... i love these woofers.. can't wait to get my hands on a few.. and so reasonably priced so you can just do that too!

i don't need to attract attention with big subs... just the audiophile who wants to hear it

I'm an audiophile, and I want to know something on these subs.
How low do they go?
I'm perfect with 10's, but not talking SPL, how do these compare?

^^ they sound better at the low frequencies than my JL 12w3's in the JL H.O. ported box did... if that tells you anything.... of course, they're not as loud, but they have better SQ...

and to me, thats what matters, hence why I choose Eclipse speakers over anything.

Definitely don't mix subs.

Unless you're running 700's up front as dedicated midbass

It's what I'll eventually do....finish subs...then make kicks...THEN 700's in the doors:
