Default my new sub setup w/pics and video

i bought my 07 Scion tC in august of 06 and a week later i put in a small cheap starter system that i got from a friend of mine. i knew even before i got it that eventually i was going to do an upgrade. it consisted of an alpine type-r 10, a 301m rockford amp, and a q-logic ported box that i bought for $150 from a friend.

since then i have upgraded to a Treo engineering SSi 10 in a box that i made to Treo's specs, and it's powered by an MTX TA5601 mono-block class D amp. here are some pics and short vids of the finished project. it's nothing to crazy but i like it and it's impressive for a single 10.

here are some quick vids....

and some pics...

well the sub i pretty much traded my type-r for so nothing for that, the amp cost me $230, all the wiring, and caps, and buss bars i already had from my last car, the box cost me $57 total in materials. so just under $300

the sub retails for $300, the amp retails for around $400-$500 normally(depending on where you shop), caps generally cost about $75-$100 a piece, the buss bars for the caps if i remember right were around $25 the wiring i would guess should be about $75-$100 for decent stuff.

the amp was brand new on ebay $230 shipped, i kinda work for a dealer of Treo engineering so he said he'd just trade me my old box and sub for the new sub. he figures if he could sell my old box and sub used for 150-200 we'd be even. so it didn't cost me much really.

i wanted to see how loud i could make one ten. it gets plenty loud so mission accomplished! the box is 1.75 cubic feet after the displacement of the sub and the port.

is it actually louder with the sub facing up rather than facing the rear of the car? mine faces the rear and is already pretty loud...

Subs are designed to perform best in a specific type & size of enclosure. In that 1.75' ported box, two of those subs wouldn't sound as good as the single he's using.

Nice vids, Tcguy! I've got a single sealed 10" in 0.75' with just 140w and it's shaking my car apart, but I can imagine how hard yours must hit...like, damn!

to be honest i'm not really sure. but it's pointing right a the hatch window. i know this box is a lot louder than the last one i built which faces back but this one is totally different.
