You have to move the mute wire as well, or you wont be able to watch movies while moving.

At first, I didn't plug in that connector with the mute wire...after I plugged it in, I can watch dvds while the car is moving. I connected my PS2 slim, but does anyone have a buzzing sound when you're PS2 is on? I can't seem to get rid of that buzzing sound. It's like a high pitched sound.

thats the power/grounding issue. if you use the car adapter for hte ps2 it cuts it down ALOT vs the dc/ac converter...but unless you go expensive its still going to be there.

my bad i forgot to mention the mute connection i took care of that as well sorry forgot totally bout that i guess my main concern was the warning message i get when i turn on the unit. Yeah i plan on hooking my ps2 up as well, i also have underbodys from oznium, they gave me the connectors so the neons when on can flash to the beat of the music its pretty cool!!

Hey I also got the Oznium kit but I wasn't sure where I can connect the RCA wires to. Can anyone tell me where I can connect the Red and White RCA connection, specifically?

Sure.

If you go to my pictures you will see where the wire goes. Its the yellow wire, you pry it out and plug it into the open slot below it. You have to turn the wire 180degrees so that it clips in. You then ground that wire and the parking brake wire.
You will know you did it right if the warning screen doesnt pop up.
if you have specific questions, just ask. I dont mind answering anything.

Great pictures. I'm about to start my install... Do I just crimp on the mute wire and the parking brake on to the same ground wire and should I connect that to the wire harness ground or do I ground that directly?? What happens if I don't ground the mute wire? (just curious)

If I don't intend to install a backup camera, I don't have to install the backup wire, am I correct?

What about if I'm just gonna use the stock speakers, will the RCA jacks (esp the subwoofer on my 08tc), will those be used or not?

Thanks a lot guys

Got the unit, the mounting kit, the wiring kit and the rear view camera. (still need to install the rearview)

Took about an hour and a half to install. There are plenty of installs out there, so I will only include the parts of the install that arent easily done.

Here are the pictures with some install pics.

You use the original mounting brackets from the stock unit. You can use it with out modifying it but the door wont close.
I took a 3/16" drill bit and drilled out the detents in the stock brackets. This allowed me to recess the unit. You only need to drill out the front two detents but I didnt know and did all four.

You then attach the metra mounting kit over the brackets and screw in.

Attached

I mounted the GPS reciever behind the right side a pillar. It is magnetic so it sticks perfect and cant be seen. Ran the wiring behind the glove box and to the unit.

The reverse wire is attached to the white plug PINK WIRE behind the glovebox. Just used a crimp tap to attach to the wire.

The speed sensor wire is on the HVAC unit, orange wire pin 14. I didnt have any more crimps, so I peeled back the insulation and soldered and then taped it.

Here you can see the finished product:

I will give feedback after I use it for a few days

You can ground both the the grounding wire in the harness.
If you dont have a backup camera, you can ignore that wire.

If not using the rcas, they will still be back there but unused.
If you dont ground the mute wire, the bypass wont work.

If you have other questions, just ask.

Thanks a lot, now I want to know about the PAC SWI-PS, ipod cable and bluetooth module... I was able to easily install the HU, how easy are these other things to install? I still have to clean up the wires and tape them down, but otherwise it went in pretty well.
Where are the best places to install the ipod cable, bluetooth box and PAC SWI-PS. I was thinking that the PAC will just float around behind the HU, anyone else have a better way to do this? Any other suggestions on the other stuff...

Where to put the mic?

i ran my ipod up to my upper arm rest, bluetooth is behind the HVAC next to the pac swi-ps. the pac swi-ps is a bit tricky to install but its fairly straight forward when you read the instructions. and the bt module and the ipod cable just plug in.

I actually like the D3 over the fseries. I think they are getting to small in the screen size. I dont understand why they are going backwards. I have had a d2, the d3 was smaller, now the F is even smaller. Makes no sense. Its all touch screen so why bother with larg buttons?
