Default need help troubleshooting my 07 HVAC led swap

1. I did the HVAC LED swap and now the three LEDs on the top left side don't work.

I got the supplies (LEDs, HVAC kit from garage1217.com, soldering iron, small gauge solder) and swapped all of the necessary resistors and LEDs. Some of those resistors were tiny so I definitely could have messed up on the soldering. All of the other LEDs work perfectly and seem to be nice and bright, but I must have done screwed something up somewhere.

I was wondering if someone out there could please tell me which of the resistors could be affecting the top three left buttons.

2. Also - I got polarizing film to do the reverse LCD screens and I was wondering - do I need to peel that white film off the back of the LCD glass and then replace it with the polarizing film?

I'd be very appreciative of any help you guys can provide.

-Derek

first, the top left leds are all in series.. (they are all connected together, meaning one no worky, all no worky)

R302, the resistor left of the lcd panel that you should've replaced with a 43 ohm, is the one that is for those 3 leds.

you can either peel off the front or rear polarizing film... the white film on the rear is just a light diffuser. it might be easier just to replace the front.

hey squall, is this the same for the 3 LEDs and the resistor behind the HVAC LCD screen also. They are also all connected in a row...correct? so if one of those are bad, then they are all bad. right or no?

ok cool thanks a lot squall, I'll try desoldering/resoldering the resistor first, then I'll try replacing each LED.

I'm pretty sure it's the resistor then, because those were the first LEDs I switched out and I hooked it up to the car to see if they even worked and they worked, but were dim. Then I went ahead and switched out the rest of the LEDs and resistors and that's when I discovered that those first three were no longer working.

Hey, I just bought that kit that had all the resistors in it, but if the actual resistor is bad, can I just go to radioshack and pick up one little resistor to replace it?

oh dang I searched and hadn't found that tutorial on reversing LCDs - thanks for the link, that definitely helps out a lot.

The three on the upper left are in one series branch. The three on the upper right are in a series branch, the bottom two on the left and the bottom led on the right are in a series branch and the lcd is a series branch. So they are all in sets of three (except for the temp **** and on/off indicators).

As long as you double check polarity on all leds and it is good, check for bad solder joints and then the resistor. If that still isnt it, double check all of you leds to make sure one did not die on you.

thanks for all the help guys - i checked the connections and it was the resistor that wasn't soldered correctly. Everything lights up nice and bright now and the polarized screen looks great.
