Default Need a new amp

I hate the connections on my amp, and I have no control over the bass boost or anything on my amp from the drivers seat or anything.
What is a good amp that is very good on heat, because my existing amp I thought was gonna set my car on fire cuz it would get soo damn hot, and has a remote bass control that has alot of options on the remote, all for under $200ish?
Just looking around, dont really know whats a good amp and whats not.
Links would be awesome too.

Thanks in advance.

What kind of amp do you have now? What are you powering with your amp?

I have a sony XM-2200GTX 2-channel amplifier. I dont have a control on it, so I cant stand it. The thing thumps whenever it feels like it and gets hot easily and fast. I have overheated a bunch of times with it too.

I am powering a Kicker 8' CVR. Guy said it could handle about 3-400 watts, and its a dual voice coil.

i think you are going about this the wrong way, what kind of subs are you trying to power. i mean what brand, type, watts, ohms and how are they wired (series or parallel). then you can get a good idea, if your trying to power 1 12inch 300w sub @2 ohm is different then powering 2-10inch 150w subs @4 ohm. ya know. more bang for the buck. if you really want some great advice pick up the CARAUDIO COOKBOOK. its a great book about anything to do with car sterios. wiring, maping how much power you really need, pricing properly and why you should do this not that.
