i want to get my windows tinted on my scion tc but i hear that with a 20% tint guys are getting tickets and i called this place to get a quote and he said he can do up to 70% tint!!??? im so confused can someone explain to me whats legal and whats not? im confused as hell

 

In NY, you're not supposed to have anything on the front driver/passenger window and the windsheild. The rear quarter windows and rear window are OK to go pretty dark, as far as I know.

My g/f has 32% front windows and quarter and 15% rear and it looks good but not like "come ticket me" dark.

The lower the number - the darker the tint.

Oh... and please... please... please... no colored tint!

 

Don't get blue tint, it will look like you used to have regular tint but it faded and turned blue . Plus it will be really annoying to look out your windows and allways see blue.

 

My shop does tint too, and all the laws that we have say New york is 70% all the way around the vehicle.. its gonna vary by state.. and if the cop has had a bad day.. most timez, tint is an add on ticket.. but from experience, they will pull u over solely for tint and ticket u..

 

well i got the infamous 10% tint on mine..and has not yet received a ticket but i have got 2 warnings tho...

cops just tell me to roll my windows down if i pass by one
and one i got stopped in front of a highly lighted place and it was still 2 dark to see inside
