Need Wiring Guidance
so its finally time to hook up everything but i need to know how to wire the subs.
i have 2 Alpine Type R Dual Voice Coil subs (500watt RMS, 1500Max) and a Hifonics 1606D amp.
Alpine Installation Advice:

Hifonics Installation Advice:

main difference looks like it is running the speakers in series to the amp Vs running each of the speakers to the amp directly; which is the safer way to hook them up?

Well if you look closely the first picture is actually in paralell and in the second picture, the subs are indeed both individually connected. It doesn't matter how you do it as far as one being safer than the other. It actually is about how many outputs your amp has. The one in the first pic only has one out put thus making it necessary to hook both up to the same output running them in series. The amp in the second pic has two out puts allowing you to hook them up individually,
All the hifonics are safe to be bridged because they are infact pre bridged inside. You should get the same results as far as power whenever you hook them both to one set or one to each set. Hifonics amps have 2 sets (2 positive terminals and 2 negative terminals) but they all go to the same place. It really just matters how you want to wire your subs ie. series or paralell.
You mentioned the Alpine subs are DVC, but what model (coil configuration) are they?
SWR-1242D or SWR-1222D?
Your amplifier is stable to one ohm, so if you have the SWR-1242Ds, you can wire all the coils in parallel. This is depicted in the Hifonics diagram.
If you have the SWR-1222Ds, you MUST use a series/parallel wiring technique. This is like the Alpine diagram.
