Default New Headunit Wiring Questions

I received a Pioneer DEH-P6800MP head unit for christmas, as well as the IB100ii iPod adapter and the PAC SWI-PS steering wheel control adapter. I've wired the head unit and iPod adapter without much fuss, but I need help with the steering wheel adapter. PAC audio's website claims, on this page http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogram...ehicles&ID=397 , that I need to incorporate a provided resistor into the wiring. I think I can handle that, but how do I connect the wires to the pin connector? Or will I have to cut the OEM harness off, then work directly with the wires behind it?

Thanks in advance, I'm new to audio but I'm trying hard to learn.

i think what i did (its been a while since ive been back there..lol) , was i put the resistor in pin 18 like the diagram said to, then i attached the other end to the white wire (wrapped it around) and then i finally taped it down so the resistor doesnt fall out and doesnt lose contact with the white wire.
