New member.... I am confused
Hi all.
I have an 08 tC. I was cruising around and must have been jamming out a lil too hard because I popped the rear passenger speaker. I looked on a couple of forums(this one seems like the best to me) and it looks pretty hard to replace. I am a girl and not too good with this stuff, and my man isn't much better. I printed out a set of directions, so I am thinking of trying it on my own. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Anyone know where I can get just a replacement speaker cheap? Do I need a harness of some kind? What size do I need? Do I have to replace both sides? Is it worth doing on my own?
Thanks!

Its an easy thing to do. Pull out the bottom rear seat, only held on by tabs so all you have to do is pull up. then take off the panel, held on by the plastic bag holder thing and more tabs and off it comes. the only issue i see you having is taking the speaker off, scion had a bright idea to use rivets rather than screws, all you need is a drill and drill bit.
you really cant mess anything up, we have lego cars, they just snap together. i replaced all of mine at the same time and the quality sounds great.
I think i still have my stock ones so if you are interested, let me know. but if you like jamming, just spend a few extra $ and get some quality speakers, you wont regret it. I replaced mine with Alpine SPS-600 6-1/2, got 4 of them for about $120 online. It was just a direct wire, no harness needed.
DEFINABLY worth doing it on your own.

The ones in the rear are smaller stock but the holes are the same, scion had another bright idea to use a mounting plate to make a smaller speaker fit in the rear. But yea, 6.5 all around.

Hey welcome to the board.
Here is a link to the install guide for the stereo, and it details how to strip down the rear panels and replace the speakers. You don't need a special plastic prytool, just use a popsicle stick or tongue depressor. While you have the car apart, you might as well upgrade the speakers. Good luck!
