Hey people,

Im making plans to buy a new subwoofer system for my car. I have decided im buying 3x 10 inch kenwood KFC-W2511 rated at 1000 watt peak power and 300 watt rms. What amplifier should i get to get the best quality sound and also should add a capacitor to this setup. any extra info is greatly appreciated, thanks.

 

hmm i think it would be pretty cool to go with three mono amps ..one for each sub..it might be a little expensive tho..but well worth it IMO

id be much cheaper to get one 1000ish watt amp with one set or wires

rahter than 3 sets of + and _ wire

also save alot of room

 

those subs are crap, i had one with a 8 year old 325 watt max (150 watts nomial)pioneer amp and blew out the wire leads where it goes from the coil to the terminal on the sub itself 3 times already, sounded good until the first blow, that 1000 watt max didnt mean jack when that happened, get some JL's or Alpine's never went wrong with those brands

 

That'll depend on the rest of the system, number of amps and power ratings, types of music you listen to and how loud for how long, type/size of system power wiring, and just how serious you are about sound quality in a car environment.

Really too early to tell at this point, just figure out everything else, buy it all, get the system built (keeping in mind the possibility of a cap, so it'd be easy to place and wire up later), listen to it....then ask if a cap might improve performance. Looking at it another way, if the small cost to add in a cap doesn't bother you, then go ahead, it sure won't hurt anything, and just might help.

 

They say to add 1.0 farad capacitor For each 1000W. I wouldnt because it takes up more space.. and u wont notice it unless your maxing it out at all times. I agree with Blitztc06 that theyre crap. I wouldnt by any cheap subs anymore, just do it right the first time. As for an amp, Kicker makes really good mono amps. Pioneer has a nice 1000w class D that really bumps.

Just remember the rule "You get what you pay for" Its really true when it comes to audio.

It would hit alot harder if each sub had its own amp? plus how many three channel amps are out there? and would u be able to set the amp right . with three subs

 

Having 3 amps will not make it "hit" harder. You do not need a 3 channel amp to power 3 subs. Having 3 amps would be a huge hassle... wiring, space etc. Please disregard datdudes comment.

 

amps can be wired to 3 subs you just have get the right impeadance going, check out the rockford fosgate wiring wizard on their site and it will let you know what kind of amp and sub combo works for you

 

your face will twitch with that much bump... Well hope it works out just get one big amp and run it in a "certain" series which i dont know of hand... but make sure you get the right amp...

Yeaaaa.... I wouldn't go with those subs man. A single 12", 15" at most from a better manufacturer would net you more "bump", if that's what you're looking for.

Run a single IDQ12 or even RE XXX if you have the cash and you'll be loving life. I'd be willing to bet that my single 10" Dayton would wipe the floor with those Kenwood's up to the 600wrms range I'm feeding it, and do a much cleaner, better sounding job anyway.

Seriously, for your benefit, look elsewhere for subs. I'm sure even caraudio.com would be able to help you out with picking a much better setup.

The Elemental Designs 13k.2 I'm testing out right now sounds better than any Kenwood sub I've ever heard. My first ever sub was a Kenwood Excelon 12" sub and it was an overpriced POS.

Actually the only time I'd do a 3 sub/3 amp combo is if the setup was for SPL competition and each sub was 2000watts RMS like the Fi Car Audio BTL series but again we're talking about KENWOOD subs.

 

Not really...
unless you strap all 3 amps! No point in running individual amps for subs, then you run into the issue of setting the correct gain with a dmm.
