Hey Doc! How about instead of flimsy fabric to allow the seats to recline, can u add a sliding panel that goes under the main portion of the cover? kind of like a sliding leaf for a dining table????

no, you don't want a sliding leaf. you want a retractable cover. i have one one stock on my murano. there is a central "bar"...retracts from the seats to the bar..and also from the back of the hatch to the bar. would be wayyy too much work and $$$ to make that for the tc.
if you don't ever plan to change your rear incline angle, then dr.i's setup is nice.
only other alternative i can think of is one that is similar to stock.part stationary, but has the rear clip to the hatch, so it would automatically half-lift up the cover when you open the hatch.
