Default PAC SWI-ALP Steering Wheel Control Unit

Has anybody installed this in their TC? I have read about people mentioning about these but never heard anybody who actually had one installed.

I'm going to get the Apline CDA-9851 head unit.

Thanks,

I have the pioneer one installed PAC SWI-PS

Works well. It isnt as quick to respond like the stock - but does the job.

Can you hook it up to any stereo or just certain ones?

i think you're good to go. check the rear of your h/u for the sensor jack. this is where your pac-swi-alp will go into. i have the -alp but its not compatible with my 9852. i have to get the swi-x.

the PAC-SWI-ALP is only 100% compatable with the 9857. That model has a small headphone jack that the SWI-ALP plugs right into. Any lower model requites the infared (IR) adapter that goes with it...this could be the SWI-X that AMMO is speaking of. Check with your local car audio store that they will hook you up. The IR adapter is a sensor that you mount usually in the dome light, it sends a signal to the head unit when you press a button on the steering wheel, and bang, you get to keep your controls. It sucks that the $359.00 CDA-9857 is the only one that comes ready to use the SWI-ALP,but that is one of the reasons I bought it. :-)

my deck has the mini jack that plugs in. in fact there is a compatability list for the swi-alp for both vehicles and HUs

Works Directly with the following models CDA-9851,CDA-9853, CDA-9855,CDA-D853,CDA-D855,CDA-9857, DVA-9965 and DVA-9860

<<<< 9855 + SWI-ALP. Works great. Wiring it into the car might be a little tricky if you've never done alarm-type installs before.
