Default Pillar removal

I was taking my headliner and pillars off to suede them. I got my headliner taken out, and my B pillar taken out but I cannot get my A and C pillars off. I have side curtain airbags. There are the regular clips that hold the door panels on but then there are also some metal clips holding them on too. Does anyone know how I get these off? Do I just pry them off like I've had to for everything else? Does anyone know if they are connected to the side airbags somehow? I don't think they are but just want to make sure.

Thanks.

they are like that because of the side curtain airbags.. they are not supposed to come off easily..

and when you do remove them.. you'll probably break those one-time use clips.. and will have to replace them.

Okay, do you think the air bags will work properly without them still or no?

There are 2 clips on the A pillars. You need to pop out the lower 1 first. It's about 6-8 inches up from the dash, use a pannel removal tool (a stiff plastic spatula works, check mom's kitchen drawers). The upper clip is about 4-6 inches down from the top edge of the pannel. You need a clip removal to to get this one out (a google search will show you some pics).

To remove the upper clip you need to go in from the top edge of the pannel (the edge that meets with the headliner). push the clip removal tool arround the clip and push in on the pannel while prying up on the clip.

The clip is designed so when the airbag goes off, the pannel will not come off the car. the airbag comes down from the pillar like a window shade. If you try to yank the clip out by pulling on the pannel you will break it. Hope this helps!
