Default Pioneer avh-p4000dvd. HELP!

so i just bought this headunit and it arrived yesterday. i've gotten it wired up in my dash aside from the parking brake wire that allows it to play video. is there any way to tap into that wire without removing the whole center console or no? if no is there any way i can bypass it without removing the mute wire like the avic guys do?

one more thing. after wiring everything up my hvac is acting funky...the clock lights up when the headlights are turned off, but turns off when they are on. i know i didnt snip any wires on accident or splice anything together on accident. maybe a blown fuse? but i disconnected the ground before install so i dont know...any advice? i figure someone else may have expierienced this or something similar with the d3.

please help, i've tried to search while im here at work with no luck...

oh and to add to the hvac thing, the clock is the only thing that lights up all the time. the the button lighting doesnt work with the exception of the orange that lights up when you turn on the a/c and circulate air buttons, not the buttons themselves just the orange light that indicates they are on...

if im not mistaken you dont use the mute wire on that model thats only for the d3 you have to use a toggle switch (on-off-on) to bypass. check out http://avic411.com/ this might help
