Default Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD users, Question??

Would replacing the stock unit with the Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD running only the factory speakers and factory sub improve the sound, or degrade the sound and therefore require a complete system upgrade??

Not looking to do a full system for a while... so I'm wondering what this will do to the sound?

Scion Pioneer Radio 160 watts (I'm guess that's a "peak" rating)

Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD:
14 watts RMS CEA-2006/50 peak x 4 channels

Thanks!

It should improve it a little... but don't expect too much. I don't think it'll make it any worse though.

Not a user myself, but I've looked into that HU. I would also expect a slight increase in performance (the 4000 would be rated at 200W if you want to compare to the stock), so you're getting more power = more volume without distortion.

The big bonus about the headunit however, would be the ability to put in a 4-channel amp to power your speakers from the pre-amp out of the headunit. You could get a decent 4-channel amp for under $200 or so, that would give you a huge increase in response from the stock speakers.

I have this HU and did notice an improvement in sound quality. The EQ is highly customizable and overall I love it. Besides the sound quality it is awesome to be able to use an external hard drive or flash drive for music.

That's great to hear. So you can use an external hard drive?? I was curious about that. I've got about 55GB of mp3's I would love to keep in the car.

Ordered this radio today!! Can't wait to get it.

Now I just need to get my tC!!

i have this headunit, and yes i noticed the sound got louder with stock speakers only , i also have 2 12" woofers that i think made it louder, or maybe its just me....

the only thing i dont like about this unit is the bland background, u can't change the background image like u can with an avic...but it doesn't bother me as much since i usually play music videos anyways...
