Default Pioneer AVIC-D2 vs. Eclipse AVN5500

I need help choosing between these two HU's:

I seem to like Eclipse AVN5500. But for both units, I am concerned that Crutchfield's web site indicated that
A receiver mounting kit is needed to install an aftermarket receiver.
and I do not know where to get this mounting kit.

Pioneer AVIC-D2 for sure, I play around Eclipse in Circuit City the other day, the GPS/Audio interface is not as nice as D2. I will go for D2 for sure if I were you.

That's the sad thing... Eclipse was So much better before Circuit City, Crutchfield and CarDomain store were carrying them.
They were function over form.
Now they are trying for looks, and it's down right embarassing.

I too would choose the Pioneer over Eclipse looking back on it. The biggest feature that I would like now (but didn't need when I got my Eclipse) is NavTraffic. Eclipse AVN HU's can now interface with their Sirius module, but cannot offer the Sirius traffic data.

uhm, i just realized that the Pioneer AVIC-D2 does not play DVD-Video discs unless you purchase a separate DVD player unit that can be attached to the AVIC-D2 HU. meanwhile, the Eclipse AVN5500 plays DVD-Video discs (obviously you have to eject the Navi DVD).

so after all she wrote, i purchased the AVN5500 HU.

anyway thanks for your thoughts guys!

now if someone would actually post some comments on the install... hmm...

Unfortunately the AVN-6600 isn't out yet... It has dual DVD... Nav with DVD playback at the same time. Still... the AVN-5500 is a nice unit. I have the AVN-5495. The install is pretty straight forward just do a search there's lot's of info.
