Hello All,

I just got a 2008 Scion Tc and I'm looking to purchase a Pioneer AVIC-U310BT. I just need a navigation, don't need anything great. Seems like the U310BT has better boot up time than the F700BT but with a smaller screen which I can deal with.
The lack of POI doesn't really bother me that much. I have the following questions.

1) What other parts do I need for the AVIC-U310BT to install?
2) What do I need to do to get the door to close without interfering with the unit? - IMPORTANT
3) How do I get the stock steering wheel audio controls to function with the AVIC-U310BT? - NOT THAT IMPORTANT
4) Other installations I've seen, seem to have a gap around the perimeter of the AVIC-U310BT after installed, is there a dash kit to eliminate this gap? - IMPORTANT

If you could please provide part#s or links of where any of these parts can be found that would be most helpful.

Also, I'm not that great at electrical things although I do know how to work on cars a bit, lighting, intakes, wheels, etc. I'm not looking to bypass for DVD or bypass so I can work it while I drive. How much would is reasonable for a professional installation?

Honestly I would rather go with the X series than the U series. The X series replaced the F series... but do as you wish.

1. The parts you will need are a double din kit Metra #95-8202
A wire harness Metra #70-1761
Then the steering wheel interface if you have them.

2. You will look at the stock metal brackets and you will see a dimple. Take 1/4 inch drill bit and drill them out. Those are going to be your new mounting tabs. You may have to grind off the edges that face out, for they may be too long.

3. You need the PAC-SWIPS module.

4. Look above for dash kit.

unless you're color blind and have one arm, you can do the install yourself

really that easy huh? I've just never messed with my vehicle electronics before...so I'm hesitant.

Just make it neat thats all. Use zip ties and crimp caps or butt connectors. Solder is best but its up to you. I do them all day, every day so im use to it. But if you get stuck there are tons of topics on here.

It won't be that difficult, just take your time. With a harness it is really easy...just match up the colors.

On second thought, after reading some reviews on the PAC SWI-PS, I think I'll hold off on that for now.

I founding the mounting bracket kit/ Wire harness on Crutchfield.

What I couldn't find anywhere is the dash kit that makes the gaps disappear after installation so that there are no gaps on the perimeters of the unit.

Dude I gave you the model number for the brackets, so there are no gaps.

Maybe I was being unclear or maybe I'm just mistaken.

The mounting bracket kit will allow me to control the depth of how far in I install the HU but not the side perimeters where there would be a gap between the actual HU and the plastic surrounding. I believe I saw a picture of someone that had this installed with the mounting kit and it sat alright, depth wise, but the perimeter around the unit between the plastic housing had a small gap...that's the gap that I'm referring to. Depth wise, I know the mounting kit will make it flush with the plastic surrounding. Maybe that's a little clearer? I'll try to find pictures of what I'm talking about though.

Ok no... the number that I gave you will take up the gaps on the left and right hand side of the radio. The depth will be controlled by the stock metal brackets. Thats why I said you need to drill them back where the dimples are so you can still close the door.
