Default Pioneer Premium Head Unit-Preamp Outs?

Does the Pioneer Premium Head Unit have preamp outs and if so what voltage are they?

well generally it depends on the headunit you are talking about however, I do believe all pioneer premier headunits will have preamp outs. as far as voltages they differ between models. They range from 2 to 5 I believe.

give a specific model #... you can generally find specs on crutchfield, sounddomain, woofersetc, ebay, almost anywhere...

well in that case it doesn't have amp outs...you can purchase an adapter on ebay for around $50 that will give you full range outputs for an amplifier. What the rated output would be, I have no clue

^^ the output voltage on a LOC should be adjustable via the gain on the converter itself.

I am referring to the factory unit but in the RS2 it has a sub and i would imagine since it has a sub it would have an amp and wouldn't that mean that it has preamp outs

^^ no, the stock HU has no pre-amp outputs. It used high-level signal (speaker wire) to transfer to the amp instead of RCA's which are low-level signal.

Well i guess my question is this-with the setup in the RS2 would i be able to hookup a new amp and subwoofer with the stock head unit or would i have to buy a new head unit?
Thanks for your help

if you purchase an amplifier with high-level inputs then yes you should be able to replace the stock equipment with little or no modification. if your amp only has RCA's for input you need to purchase an LOC or Line Out Converter as SCI_TC_GUY mentioned. here is a link to one such unit on crutchfields website...

there is also a cable you can purchase which plugs inline between the cars harness and the radio which will give you a pair of RCA outputs to connect to an amplifier. It will also provide your amp turn on wire. It's a tad more expensive but in my opinion is a better option. Here is a link to a guy who sells them on ebay.

hope all this helps
