Down below are some Final pics of my Engine cover Project....

First time Painting Plastic....What a PAIN!!!

I painted it HEMI Orange....why?..Just to be Different!!!!

i painted mine with some engine paint , i didnt sand, "i dont think you need too" you can prime it but I used a special prime for that paint cause its plastic and the paint was metallic. and i used the blue masking tape. hope this helps

 

you dont necessarily HAVE to
but it would be good to scuff it up a bit to help the paint stick

 

sand and paint
no need for primer

 

what about ClearCoating afterwards??....

This too was a Big Pain in the OOCHIE!!!!....

I used HEMI Orange...

I have to let the paint "cure" now...

I used Blue Painters Tape & White Glue to mask areas I wanted to stay Black!


Then after Many, many coats of color..and Sanding between coats!!!!

 

why orange?

Finally DONE!!!!....Maybe!...Cuz I might wanna do a Custom Design on it too!!

But I done!!

 

should've left the 16 valve black too :-/

black/orange are my high school colors hah so another +1 for you

though i still think you need to hit up randode for black vinyl "16 valve" ! ;)

 

Looks good. 16 valve would have looked nice in black. but the orange is different and a good job done.
