Default playing burn dvds in D3

I popped in one of my burned dvds which I burned with nero. I know it says the D3 can play dvd-r but the disked I popped in was a dvd+r does anyone know why the player was able to play the dvd if the d3 doesn't support it? I'm confused. Will it mess up my player if I continue to play my dvd+rs? Or does nero reformat the disk to a dvd-r? I appreciate any help. Thanks

DVD +R came out after DVD -R. I believe the main difference between them is what information they relay to the burner during the burn process. There are other differences, which are more like features such as copyright management, but this probably one of the most significant. As for player compatability they are both about the same.
