Default Playing a DVD while driving.

Hey i just had a quick question about installing an Alpine in dash dvd. I was wondering how you can install it withought running a wire to the E-Brake so that you can have movies playing while your driving

You should install a hidden switch that bypasses the lock. I heard that if insurance companys find out that you did not hook the unit up to the monitor, they could refuse to cover your accident.

thats just a rumor about not covering your accident. as far as a wire, most likely the wire will have to be grounded (as with the kenwood 8017) . just ground the wire and you should be good to go. keep in mind if you get pulled over you better have a navigation on there readily available or you will see yourself with a ticket.

I wouldn't play a DVD while driving. It's not safe at all and if you get in an accident it will be your fault(unless they rear end you or something that couldn't possibly be your fault).

true, but that depends on your ability to do 2 things at once, and on open highway to keep a glance at it, its really not that hard.

There's always the passengers though. As soon as someone (who doesn't know better) sees a "OMG f***ing TV" in the car, they want to watch and mess with them - I've seen it many times. Also, if you have a ps2 or xbox or w/e hooked up, that keeps them busy. And SURELY know one plays video games while driving.

Well its the Alpine IVA-D310. So does that just mean that i could put in the kill switch? or ground it somewhere else other than the ebreak or how does it work?

i have the Eclipse AVN6600 double din deck...has dual dvd drives to allow a seperate movie to play in rear headrest units and a different movie in the front main unit. i also have the e-brake bypassed, but i don't watch movies while i drive...

I'm not saying that one of us watching the DVDs would be the cause of the accident.

I'm saying, especially in a place like Texas with the horrible drivers here, if I get hit from the side by another car and my DVD Player is playing a movie...I will get the blame regardless of the fact that I was not at fault. If in that accident, someone in the other vehicle died and you get sued...you're pretty much s.o.l. Imagine convincing a jury that you're were pay attention and that the accident was not your fault when you bypassed a security feature and had a DVD playing. You won't win.

This is the article that I read on one of the various car audio forums out there:

http://hometheater.about.com/b/a/101938.htm

It happened to someone already, there is no reason it won't happen to you as well. Not worth it imo. [/url]

Just ground it out and you'll be set.

I have alot of good music videos, that's the only reason I keep the DVD player on when driving.
