PLEASE HELP!!!!
OK so today I bought a new 7 inch in dash touch screen dvd player for my scion...the install guy at best buy was very helpful because it didnt fit at first so he shaved the dash down a tiny bit and it fit after a while so then we go to put the door back on that covers the radio and it wont shut, because the radio sticks out too much. my question is...is there anyway to make the door open further out, like push the door out so it can go over the radio i realize it wont be flush with the rest of the waterfall but i need something to cover my radio so nobody tries to jack it. i have an appointment tomorrow afternoon at best buy tomorrow with the guy because i told him i was going to try to come up with a solution to the problem so he could fix it...that's where you guys come in. any help would be much appreciated!
Don't go back to best buy. You can easily re-drill holes in the mounting bracket about half inch back so that when you screw the brackets into the sides of the headunit, it sits half an inch back into the space. It's pretty simple to do, but I'll look for a thread on how to do it.
I can't find any pictures, but do you know how to take the headunit out yourself? If so, then unscrew the four screws on each metal mounting bracket from the left and right side of your new headunit. Then look at each mounting bracket, and there will be dimples right next to each screw hole. Drill these holes out and then re-mount them onto the headunit using the new holes.
sounds easy enough...i know you say not to go back to best buy but the guy i worked with was pretty knowledgeable and helpful and was willing to continue working on my car at no charge he just didnt want to try anything else with the door tonight considering they had already been closed for about 10 mins by the time he finished getting it to fit correctly in the first place. so instead of trying to do this myself ill just tell him exactly what to do while watching him so if something is done wrong its not my fault haha
thanks again, you're a lifesaver i was getting worried that this door wouldnt be able to be put on again and that's one of my fav features!

If the Best Buy installer was good he would have easily figured out the solution, and would have met the customer's requirement of being able to close the door. Either DIY or look for someone more qualified, imo.
