Please Help, Tweeter problem
Today I hooked up my laptop to the stereo and played a 39.5Hz sine wave. The problem I'm having is, my tweeters are playing too. Why are my tweeters making noise when my bass hits? I've got all the crossovers set up correctly.
EDIT: I went back out to the car and tried a few things, but I still don't know what could be doing this. I unhooked the sub amp from the system. I played the 39.5hz sine wave again and I'm getting a bit of noise coming from both tweeters and from both 6.5" speakers. It only occurs when I play the test tone. I tried setting the HPF to something like 125hz with a 6db slope and I still am getting the noise. Anybody know what this noise is?

What does the noise sound like? Static? How "clean" is your source? If there's ANY high frequency information, the tweeters will play it - as they should. An MP3 may have (undesirable) high frequency information...
It sounds sort of like a static. It's not really annoying or extremely loud and it's only noticeable when playing a signal. I'm playing the sine wave with a signal generator built into RoomEQWizard on my laptop and sending it through a walmart aux cable to the head unit.
Side note : I don't mean to get off topic, this may or may not relate. But, when my cellphone just turns on, I get a beep beep beep beep beep beep noise that comes from my stereo. When it's off it doesn't do that.

Your RCAs, being attached to the front end of your signal chain, and since the computer (or iPod, etc.) is NOT attached to the chassis/ground, will allow high frequency blips from telecommunication devices.
IF your tweeters aren't making this noise with "normal" music, consider it "OK", and there's a static hiss coming from your laptop.

That was it. I popped in an Autosound 2000 cd and played a track with low frequencies and no more noise from the wrong speakers/tweeters. Stupid laptop soundcard...Thanks for making me aware of this problem.
