Default Polk SR5250 speakers

I need some opinions on these speakers. Am I really going to notice that big of a change compared to my current alpine type-r components?

i dont have the sr5250's but all my components/coax speakers are polk and they are definately some of the clearest speakers i've owned so far. i've not used alpine before tho so i cant make a clear comparison. are your current ones going bad? or just looking for something new?

if your type r's arent bad, keep them.

type r components are some of the best components for the money. I have type s components (step down from type r ) and i love them

My type r's still work fine. I was considering picking them up because I can get a pair for cheap through my work.

Yes there will be a noticeable improvement. The Type R is Alpine's mid-level component set while the SR is Polk's top set. The Type R is made to get loud while the SR series was made for accuracy. The SR's tweeter is a ring radiator type...a significant difference from the soft dome of the R. Why the SR5250 and not the SR6500?

So again...it really depends what your looking for. If you prefer loud vs accurate stay with the Type R.

I am looking for sound quality. I was considering the SR5250 because that was what we had in stock at work. I just spoke with the crutchfield tech and he stated that there wouldn't be that big of a difference compared with the two. I might as well save the money for a rainy day.

Sounds like you already made up your mind but there is a big difference between the two. It's like the difference between a Toyota and a Lexus.
