Default is it possible to remove the rear side trim w/o removing the

rear seats?

the rear seats are guarded by a flipper piece, which is then covered by the trunk mats.

can i simply remove the plastic trim (where the rear speakers are) w/o tearing everything else apart?

Yes, putting the panels back on is kinda tricky though . You should remove the plastic covers on the side seat joints, that will help by providing a bit more room. You'll see what I mean when you try to put the panels back on.
