Default Premium Head Unit and iPod issue....

Hello all, I recently installed the Pioneer Premium 2008 head unit into my Tacoma (Plug and Play into it). THis was the most sensible place to post this, so my problem is when I plug the iPod into the iPod cable that runs to the back of the head unit (got cable of ebay SC12235), I get all controls, etc, but the sound is not soo good. I have to crank the HU up to about 40, I get good bass and treble, but midbass totally sucks. You can barely hear the voices on most songs..and it sounds like there is a horrible echo in the iPod. I turned the volume all the way up on the iPod, turned off Sound check, turned the EQ off on the iPod, and it still just doesnt sound right. The iPod is an older 2GB nano (i think). COuld there be an issue with an older iPod? It is a friend of mines I used to test the iPod setup, but I do not think it has upgraded software on it, etc. All the controls and stuff work fine on the head unit for the ipod, it is just it seems to be lacking all voice and mid sounds. Any help is appreciated if anyone can give me any. Should I find someone with another iPod before I get mine (xmas present, have to wait). Let me know!

I turned the iPod EQ off. A buddy of mine is getting the same head unit, so I am going to plug into that one to rule out the head unit. Then I will try another iPod to rule that as the cause out (but I am hoping that it is just the iPod that is the problem. And if that doesn't solve it, I have contacted the ebay seller already about the cable and he is willing to replace it if I rule out both the head unit and iPod.

Just thought maybe there has been a similar problem here with iPod hookup to Premium Head unit. Thanks!

So I guess what I am asking, has anyone used the 2008 head unit (premium) in a vehicle that did not have the wiring harness for the iPod, and had to purchase SC12235 off ebay? If so, did you sound work flawlessly when it was all plugged in? Thanks!

I dont think that is the issue, as several other people have used this cable, and had no complaints....I wish I could just get an actual sensible response sometimes, if you have stupid comments, please keep them to yourself.

you think that was a stupid comment? well, i think its stupid to believe someone on ebay when they say, "yea, this worked in my car" cuz the fact of the matter is PEOPLE LIE ON EBAY.

you asked what people thought your problem was and I told you.

Has nothing to do with ebay, been in contact with several people away from ebay, cable worked great. Once again, just looking for a sensible answer, not another "it must be ebay answer". If no one knows, then no one knows and we will leave it at that. Sometimes I wonder....

Try setting the Ipod EQ to "Flat" and try again. I had some quality issues with my Avid D3 and the Ipod, I had my eq set to off...the quality was terrible very distorted, and a friend told me to put the EQ to flat....all my issues went away. So give it a whirl!

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, I set the EQ to flat, and it made no difference. I am going to plug in another head unit and try that (a friend has one) and see what happens. If that doesn't work, then the guy I got the cable from was more than willing to send me a new one to try. Hopefully I get this all worked out. Thanks!
