Default Premium stereo with iphone - please read

I have a 2006 Scion Tc that had its stock head unit replaced with the '08 premium head unit (the one with the RCA outputs). The unit was replaced by a technician that was installing a subwoofer for me. The technician accidentally dropped my stock unit and gave me the '08 unit as a replacement.

The premium unit works great, but will not play any ipod or iphone on it. I have a feeling that there is a special cable that was not provided to me when he replaced the unit. I now own an iphone and would like to get the phone to work through my car stereo. I have heard that there is an additional two cables that I need to purchase.

Can anyone tell me where I can get the cables so that the iphone will work in the car? I would like full functionality with song titles and controls on my head unit. I see kits on ebay, but have no idea if they will work with the premium unit.

Thanks in advance for your input!

From what I would guess, all the iPod cables for the HU are the same. The ebay option is probably the best for easiness. Other wise, you need the wire harness that goes from the back of the HU down between the shifter console. Then you will need another smaller wire harness that goes from the first one into the iPod plug. The iPod plug has to then be mounted in the arm rest area. After that, you will need the OEM iPod cable to plug into this port and in to the ipod. From what I saw on here about last week about this same question, is that there is an ebay cable that runs from the HU and directly into the phone.

Which Generation iPhone are you using? 3G, 3GS, or Edge?

Thanks for the responses so far. I am using the 3GS. My head unit is the Premium sound system with the OEL display and RCA outputs. From what I am seeing on ebay, most of those units will not work with the OEL head unit.

if you would like, I can take pics for you of my 2009 when I get back in town and show you what the wire harness looks like and the pieces that you would need.

There is a wiring harness needed for the iPod. It goes from the back of the headunit, down to the inside of the armrest. From there, there is an iPod wire that hooks up to your iPod.
