Default Preparing for the AVIC D2

It's in the mail right now, having a contest of sorts with a friend of mine to see who can make his tC the 'bombest' i think this is a good step.

Anything I should know about this before having it installed? I heard I should ask for the parking break wire to be grounded. Do i need to specifically tell the installers that the door must be able to close?

Any notes or experiences any of you can share would be great!

I ran a search for the AVIC D2 and didnt find anything concrete.

Tell them that the mounting bracket from the OEM radio needs some modification done to it in order to get the D2 to mount alittle deeper to let the door to close, and to ground the parking brake wire.

Why exactly does the parking break need to be grounded? I read that its something thats good to do, but its not like the D2 has DVD video playback.

Additionally, do I need to inform them of the steering wheel controls and AUX cable in my center console, or will they know what they are doing (this is most likely a local Circut City).

Here ya go: http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/4/249936.html

Most likely, they will connect all the wires from the radio harness to the car-specific harness, and any additional adapters may be need for the volume control, but I'm not sure since I don't have an 06+

You are correct that there is no DVD playback, but it does have navigation. There are some features that are limited while you are driving. Bypassing the brake wire will allow you to use all the navi features.

You will probably have to ask them to connect everything.

P.S. I noticed you are in Irvine. If you like, I can install it for you. PM me if you are interested, and I can give you my contact info. (Be sure to read the part in my sig that says MECP Certified Installer...)
