Default Question about Amp power

If an amp is rated at 400w RMS x 1 and is running to a single sub, does that mean the amp is only pushing 400w RMS, or could that amp be bridged to make 800w RMS?

if you're only getting one sub woofer, then you may want to get a 400 watt sub. you have a 2 channel amp, so you can bridge the sub to both channels and get the combined output of each one.

Not all amps can be bridged!!! Beware, you can blow an amp very easily this way.
Do you have a link to the amp? There is a bit of information missing from your question.

its more than just wiring bridged

consider ohms as well, your amp AND woofer must be 1ohm stable if your running it at one ohm. if you have a dual 4ohm sub, and a 2 ohm stable amp, then bridge it to 2 ohms
