I searched the forums and I could not find a definitive answer on if the AVIC D1 fits in the TC, while still letting the cover close over it? I want to order an 06 TC, but I wasnt sure about the cover, and if the stock steering wheel controls will work with the D1. Any input would be appreciated, because this is my deciding factor in buying the TC. Thanks.

search "Avic-d1" and you will find a HUGE install step by step DIY.

QUICK ANSWERS: I have the AVIC-D1 and yes the lid will still close. However i have mine more outset so its flush with the dash and it will not close. It is up to you on if you want the lid to open or close. Also, i know someone got it to work with the 06 steering wheel controls, he put out a large writeup about it.

Try searching up "avic d1 install" or "avic-d1 install"
I forgot which i did and followed that. Im 19 and it was my first HU install. I had no problems, took me about 5 hours only because i kept stopping to double check everything
