Default Question about speaker ugrade

I was reading threw the posts looking for information for upgrading speakers and I saw in a couple of posts that people just recomend doing the front speakers instead of the all of the speakers. IF that is true someone let me know!! Cause if that is the case I would have more money to spend on the front 2 speakers, I might buy the eDi 6500s Components. Someone let me know!! Thanks alot

That's what I'm running....6500s up front, no rear speakers.

I hate rear fill...I find it kinda pointless.

Plus, if you're sitting in the back, you can hear the front speakers in a tC just fine...did a little experiment w/ that one once

I agree and disagree.... I agree the most important ones are your fronts. But a car sounds hollow with out any rear fill. Plus if you are wanting to play any movies or anything with a true sound stage it needs the rear fill.

That is true for something recorded in more than stereo sound, yes. But for a normal stereo recording, there's only 2 channels recorded, only 2 channels are needed for proper reproduction.

Of course, this is a highly debated topic...some people like rear fill...others don't. I'm definitely part of the "don't" crowd.

+1 on the "don't"....

If I were going to have a 5.1 decoder, of course I'd get 5 equal channels... but since my CD's and radio are 2 channel, I only use the 2 front channels for more accurate reproduction...

you are correct that it is in stereo. Well since this is the ICE section and alot of people are doing screens now adays then you would want a 5.1 sound. That is why alot of the headunits have 5.1 built into them now. I have had them both ways and you can realy tell on some recordings (even CD's) that there is rear in the recordings.
Yes it is a preference though. Some like it some dont.

yeah....If you're gonna have a screen, get 5.1.....but otherwise, stick with 2 channel up front.....

poo..
this is alot of useful information, but i am gettin the kenwood indash unit...for the 5.1 can you REALLY tell or is it something you would have to be paying attention for lack of sound? I mean i would leave the rear speakers back there and if possible hook the amp up to them as well as the components in the front

You'll probably not really notice the lack of sound....but if it were done correctly with the amping and placement, you'd hear a HUGE difference......
