Default question regarding infinity basslink

Ok, here we go. I have the basslink, love it, its great. I also bought the adapter on ebay that allows you to wire it directly to the head unit, since there are no RCA outs on it usually. I have it mounted so it’s on its side, as I found that sometimes it would tip if I took a corner too fast. Well, the other day I was driving and I had to take a corner so fast I heard the basslink roll around in my trunk. I pulled over and sure enough found it on the other side of the trunk Not cool. Not only that the power and ground wires had pulled out. It was dark but I tried to reconnect them using a screwdriver on my key chain. In my haste I accidentally tied the ground into the power terminal and as I was going to put the power in- I obviously got a mid sized spark. I quickly took everything out. I pulled out the fuse in the back of the Basslink and sure enough I had blown it. So I went home, got a new fuse, took the whole car part, to recheck my ground connection, and other connections. Everything looked fine. So I put everything back together only to find now that when I turn on my car- the basslink powers up for a second only to turn off again. I'm thinking I fried it, but I get the multi-meter out and check the voltage from all type of angles and there is current still getting through. I can’t figure it out. So I even go as far as to run down to circuit city and buy another Basslink, since they have a 30 return policy. I go out to the parking lot and switch them out, and still nothing works. This is a good sign in that the problem doesn’t seem to be with my Basslink. I returned the one I just bought, and now I’m looking to see if anyone has any theories. I think what may have happen is if the ground wire was pulled out first then the power might have been directed up the remote wire to the HU. But the HU is still working fine. The Basslink still turns on I just think its turning off cause its may not be getting a response from the remote wire……should I tap in the remote wire to the cigarette lighter? Again, any theories are welcomed.

Did you check the inline fuse on the power cable from the battery?

yup, i agree, it's probably the fuse that should be within 18 inches of your battery

yeah I checked the fuse in the engine bay and its fine....I was hoping that would be the case too.....thanks for the suggestions though.

But as of today I know my Basslink still works. I put it in a friends car that had an amp and sub already set up and it worked fine....which is great cause I know now that I didn't kill my sub. Anyhow, I think I might have fried the part where the remote wire connects to the head unit. Cause my basslink is getting power, its just not staying on after I turn the car on......Can anyone suggest where I should try to connect the remote wire instead? I thought about the cigarette lighter but my friend said that was too much voltage...any thoughts? thanks for your input

I had a similar issue with my basslink in the old car it was in. when I put it in the TC I got smart I used some spare speaker speed clips and the sub doesn't go anywhere now.

So any suggestions of where I could hook up the remote wire other than the back of the head unit?
