Default Questions regarding LED bulbs in turnies and tailies

I've spent the past 2 hours reading some posts.

It seems each turnie needs a load resistor. So that's 4.

However, do the tailies need one too? My guess is no since they don't need to blink? Anyone have confirmation?

I read that the load resistors generate some heat. Are there simple places to mount the "flat surface" to?

Also, what's the deal with having to splice the cables? If I add these load resistors, is it a "no turning back" decision if I were to need to go back to OEMs?

Anyone have some pictures of LED bulbs in the tail lights? I'd like to hear some actual results and commentary!

Thanks
