If you don't have a lot of money, try the whistler pro-58. I use it. It cost me $90. It is VERY good with detection. It detects far earlier than any other that I've used in this price range. The downside though, is that it gives a lot of false alerts - but this goes hand in hand with it being such great detection for a budget price.

If you have a billion dollars to spend, go get the valentine 1. This is probably the best detector on the market, but it costs $400. It gives VERY few false alerts, detects everything with great distance. It even shows you the direction that it is coming from. A very good detector.

An alternative to the valentine 1 is a BEL product. Those are top of the line also and you can save some money for practically the same thing.

Whichever you can get the better price on. They would both be do you well. I would tend to lean toward the BEL just because I have heard great things about that EXACT product. I've heard great things about escort, but I never heard any reviews either way about it. So get whichever you can get a better price on. you won't regret either, you'll just regret spending too much if you spend more for basically the same thing.

I have the Escort 8500 X50, and itr was worth every penny. It's awesome, and great range. I've picked up Ka bands a full 2 minutes before the cop and I crossed paths. I'm hoping to pick up the 9500 in the near future, it has Ku AND GPS logging. Pretty sweet!

Both Escort and Bel are the same company, as I posted in the other section, Beltronics bought out Escort from Cincinnatti Microwave about 10 years ago.

Just depends on the features you like between the two. Both are excellent! I personally like Bel's products.

Can't go wrong with either Escort or Bel. (such as the bel rx65,vector 990, or the escort 8500,9500)

i got a bel rx65 works pretty good, but i dont tavel the highways much anymore and i use my eyes alot now, since my 516$ ticket at a school zone. If anything get something thats good like this, cause its rated the best next to the valentine 1 on radarbusters.com im gonna set up a car pc to get GPS logs of my speed, so i can fight off any tickets that i dont speed on. I mean not everybody pays attention to speedometeor in city traffic right? lol
