Just installed a JVC HDR30 into my car (after my previous stereo got stolen. not sure how they broke in. no signs on the door, but if anyone has any ideas, I would be interested to hear).

The radio cover won't close with the face on. Besides moving the stereo back a little, has anyone tried either making the door slimmer from the back or maybe the black part behind the cover is removable? Let me know. Thanks!

 

The black part is what holds the door onto the hinges.

Just drill new holes in the metal brackets

 

^ Ditto the new bracket holes. There are even dimples already there to show you where to drill.

I'm using an aftermarket installation kit. So I'll probably have to move it to the stock bracket and drill holes like you guys suggested.

It recesses the deck flush with the pocket, might save you some trouble.

its not worth spending money on something new when you can use what u have...

 

or just dremel out the underside of the door in order for it to not hit the **** s if thats what is sticking out and preventing it....Looks like crap but u can not see it when the door is open....

 

I think even dremelling isn't really worth it when you can just drill new holes. You may not be able to see it... but still.

 

I need to re drill mine still. I have that same dvd player too.
