Default Re-Painting these Interior Pieces...

I originally painted my interior peices gunmetal and now I am wanting to change them..what I used the first time was krylon gunmetal paint...long story short..i sanded it down a bit and began shooting the new color and it was looking all good...then when i went to put on some old clear coat...i came back and wwas in shock to see that apparently the clear coat i used ate through the paint and caused all these little cracks..at this point i tried taking everything off but it left me with a surface more uneven then an off roading course surfavce....ive used acetone to take off as much as i could but as anyone who has used it before with these two thick layers of paint (10 coats probablky including first paint job and secound) it is pretty hard to get it the way it was...so i sanded it and sanded untill i could get it as smooth as i could and now there are still remaining cracks and bumps meaning that if i do spray this again it will obviously come out bad..

My question is...can i use something like filler primer to make the surface smooth again or...? do u think its the end of my piece...thanks in Adv.

Check eBay and/or the classifieds. I think I recall seeing some of the interior pieces on eBay recently.

Closed already. Not sure if it was high or not though - but a lot of pieces I think.

I think it'll be fine.

Bondo filler, sand, primer, sand, paint, sand, paint.

I also used clear coat on one of my paint job projects and it ate the paint and made it look cheap. Had to redo it all over minus the clear coat.
