Default replacing factory sub

I've finally dropped the dough for an ed stealth box 2ohm and an after market amp (infinity reference 311a from crutchfield... I had a gift certificate).

I'm expecting some burn on this as it's probably been posted... but there are 104 pages here and I'm at work with little time to search... so, sorry in advance.

Anyhow. I know I'll have to fight the power wire from the battery to the amp in the back - but what about the audio from the head unit. Obviously there's wiring already in place (i just ordered everything new, so I haven't pulled it apart to look at it) - but is there anything extra I'll need to rip out or will I, in fact, have to take out the head unit to re run the new amps audio cables? If I can skip that step in exchange for a quick splice job, that would oh so rock .

Thanks!

This will help you get through the firewall for the power cable. It's not really that hard.

As far as switching the factory sub, I am not so sure. . I am under the impression that you would have to run the wires yourself... but I could be completely wrong.
This thread might help you out though.

There are A LOT of stereo threads here so you should be able to find anything you need. If you are at work and don't have time to search, write it down and search when you get home. Searching before asking will save you the hassle of being burned.
Just a friendly headsup. :D

It would be in your best intrest to run new power/groud cables. If your amp has high level inputs you can just cut the plug off the factory sub harness and use the rear speaker wires. If you dont have high level inputs, then you will need a line out converter. You will be able to use the remote wire off of this harness.

There really isnt a lot to it. I replaced the factory sub with 2-8" memphis mclass, and used an old orion amp. With the factory sub plug it is pretty easy. I have some finish install pics in my profile, no progress pics though.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just have to get down and dirty with it this weekend after I get the parts. I'll take pictures of the process and put them here in case anybody finds them self in the same situation.

Thanks again
