Default Replacing Radio and Subwoofer(RS2) Already!

Im only at 12,000 miles on my 06' RS2 tC and my volume know never works anymore, thankfully my steering wheel controls still get the job done....and all of a sudden my factory 6" Pioneer subwoofer sounds like its blown, i thought it was impossible to blow any speakers with stock head unit....the SRT feature when you use MP3 CD's increases the volume more(enhance sound quality) but i think it just blows literally unless you upgrade you interior speakers. My warranty covers it but they say I could be waiting 6 weeks to get it back....Is it worth the hassel? not having a radio for 6 weeks...
