the d1 has a gyro. and it does NOT play dvds. you have to get an external dvd player...but you can use nav and dvd at the same time if you do that...the motion thing can be bypassed though. with the eclipse you can just ground the wire that runs to the brake, but i dont know about the d1. i heard it was a bit harder.
-eclipse avn25whatever it is..you can get it for around 900
-eclipse avn5435(new one) can get for about 1400 - 1700 depends on where you go
-pioneer avic d1you can get for about 950 (best navigation ive seen)
theres more out there..but i just think those are some of the best ones out there.

For the eclipse 5435, is the e-brake wire the only one that needs to be moved to allow the unit to function as we'd want? Which is the e-brake wire (there are obviously not instructions for this that come with the unit Roll On Floor Laughing )
Well you are going to want the D2, not D1. That is an older model. The D2 is around 715 shipped on Ebay. I just got one for my wifes car.
No you cant play DVDs. No you cant just ground the brake. The unit knows. even if you pull the break alittle while moving it knows and locks everything out. There is a bypass but it involves opening the unit and soldering to bypass.
But you can always hook an external DVD player up to the backup camera. That will work.
