The place I went to (Valu Home Center or something like that) DID have different sized ones. I would imagine that Lowe's/HD should have similar items.

Yea it's a big hardware store...if they sell a pipe, they'll sell a plug to fit it ;)

I just did this this past weekend.
They had it at Lowes. Just ask in PLUMBING for a 3" pipe PLUG. Mine was mostly silver...so I bought a can of black spray paint too.

Looks pretty decent and fits PERFECTLY.

Throw the cover on and you can't tell your ghetto mod. HAHA.

But remember, if you swap out the sub as shown elsewhere on the fourms, you MAY have to unplug the port - depending on the specifications for ported vs. non-ported boxes for your subwoofer. [If you don't understand this, PM me]

Stopped at Lowe's and found the piece. cost me 3.85 or so. Plugged it right in the parking lot and knocked the gain up a bit and turned on some Prodigy. Weee. This was a good mod. Now I just need to get back in there because I think I left the bolts a bit too loose when I installed my tail lights ~~

Glad you like it!

And like xtonyC said, it really does fit perfectly if you get the right size. I was pretty amazed.

I just read the topic and tried it myself and it actually does make a difference. Like they said before you would have to adjust your gain and all but it hits harder. Have mine set on feel and bass at +2 with gain about half way. It actually sounds like something Bazooka wouldn't make. :>)

Glad to hear it.

My bass is usually between +3/4, just FYI for people. Guess I can put that in my other post with the other settings.

Lowes is where I got mine. Try other places...they're only $6 or so.

I got this mod done today. It was a pain in the ___ to find the part but they have it at lowes and home depot... just ask for a 3" pipe plug.

I was somewhat skeptical but I have to say it improves sound quality pretty tremendously. It makes the listening experience I would say... the bass port opened seemed to make some music sound really crappy.

Yuppp, plumbing section.

Say these words EXACTLY, "I'm looking for a three inch pipe plug."
That's all, they'll know what you mean. And almost any large home store (Home Depot, Menards, Lowes) should have them, although you may have to ask more than one guy (the old guys usually don't know what you mean).

How does this effect the cooling of the amp....regardless this is a little guy, but still with the air that comes from the sub passing over the amp and out the port seems that it would stay a lot cooler. Any worries of overheating the amp with it sealed.

Those that have had it in for a while still experience good results....and has anyone taken a look behind the sub after plugging it for a bit?

Thanks for the tips! I will hit this mod up this weekend and post my experience.

The port in these subs is there for 2 reasons. It "tunes" the box for the fequency in which the subwoofer is most efficent and provides cooling for the amp. When you "plug" the port it will keep the same amount of air in the box and support the cone of the speaker more which will control movement causing it to be more accurate and to handle more power without over extending. The only drawback I can see to plugging this port is that the amp is not getting the constant flow of cool air but is also now being subjected to the heat caused by the voice coil of the driver. I would be more apt to only do this mod with an aftermarket subwoofer and external amplifier due to the "oven" it would subject the amplifier to.

PS, I know this is a VERY old thead and I appologise, but felt it was needed info. Please CLOSE.

I've had this done on my Bazooka for over a year now with no ill effects. Sounds better too.
