For the record, I'm running a set of JL 8w7's. They are excellent in a box big enough for them but will sound like crap in an undersized box. Also, they seem to be both louder and cleaner in a ported box.

However, for shallow application why hasn't anyone mentioned Pioneer?

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...oofers/Shallow

Just ignore the MAX power rating and use the nominal (RMS) when selecting an amp. I just have a hard time believing a 350W RMS sub will handle 1400 max. Seem good on space though, .5 - 1 cu ft for a 12 is tough to beat.

Man, the JL shallow mounts have me thinking though, would it be worth it to sell / trade the 8w7's for a set of shallow-mount 12's when they come out?

I have the Pioneer TS shallow sub in the 10" version. I bought 2 and only use one.

One is more than enough bump for me. I know its an apples to oranges comparison but...

12" Audiobhan 800rms in specifically made vented enclosure < 10" Pioneer in hand made .5 sealed box.

I have an ED SQ 10 in a custom stealth box and it sounds good and has lasted more than a year. Nice sub for the size really.

Does Crutchfield ship to Guam? Also, the way JL's been delaying you may be back stateside before they come out.

lol, JL already is building in Taiwan and has been for a while. They still use the best buildhouse around (hmm...Robert Zeff ring a bell anyone?), and their quality is top-notch. Are there better products for the money? Sure, but JL isn't selling out, and the quality isn't about to change. There's nothing to worry about.

I hope that stays true. I've been using JL products since I got my first car in 1994. I had an S-10 with 2 12W4's behind the seat. I think I hope deep down there quality doesn't change, hell, I could just be using this as an excuse to stock up ;)

OH and the website fails to mention that the enclosure only fits THEIR shallow mount subs.

I was able to fit a Kicker CVT 10" in there with a 1/2" spacer, but I can't close the mat now.

I like the Kicker, I only have 300W going to it and it'll pound.
why in the hell do they have to mention that their custom enclosure only fits their subs, and why are you ____ed that thats the case? are you retarted? how about you go _____ about you scion tC because you cant fit a ____ing viper body on it.

I'm trying to figure out how to fit a 13 inch tw5 in that space. At any rate i can't afford that right now. Is it possible to get a pioneer 10 to fit in the ED box? if so i'll just do that. Can't i just cut the hole and use a router to make it bigger? Someone let me know if this will work.

Several of us are REALLY interested in finding out about shallow mounts...I don't want this locked. Thanks..

Has anyone found a SPECIFIC release date?! Their site says April 2008...yeah right, lol....
