Default SNS And Window Tint

SL members,

I was reading on some of the info about the scion navi and not to tint your windows due to interfering with the navi is this true? do you think I could also change out my antenna for a stubby one without messing up my navi? Any help would be great!

If you keep the Navi/GPS antenna near the windshield (which you shouldn't tint anyways), you should not have a problem.

+1

When I had my sirius radio in my Eclipse the installer put the circular antenna on the dash board by the window and my signal was still very clear and strong.

Does the Factory Navi use satellite or only off the DVD they gave me?

the satellite tells where you are and the DVD is where all the info is stored.

I have mine under the dash (below the plastic) and my windows tinted at 30%. The tinting myth is exactly that, a myth. If my antenna can see through solid plastic, I'm going to wager a bet that says it can see through tint.

the tint it more refers to is a metallized tint, which WILL interfere.

just talk to the tinter and he can choose a suitable material that won't have issues.

as far as the stubby.. that's for the radio... nothing to do with nav functions.. and it'll be absolutely fine.

I placed my GPS sensor from my Avic-D3 at the top of the windshield on the the tint visor and it does not effect it.
