Default Sound Deadener VERY messy(EDeadv2)-ANY solutions????!!?!?b

Hey everyone, ok i have done multiple layers of edead throughout my car but i am wondering what everyone does with all of the messy black edges?

Whenever i applied the material i used a heat gun and worked it into the grooves, this caused a little to be extruding from the edges of each piece. I usually wouldnt mind this but i take my interior out pretty often and the fact that this crap gets on everything it touches makes things very messy.

BTW i did go back and cover all of the edges with duct tape so that black butyl wouldnt get on everything, but this is a huge pain in the ___ and sometimes the duct tape will start to peal off also beceause of the heat(texas summers, black car)

SOOOO my question is, what has everyone done in order to prevent all the black butyl crap from getting on everything, or is the true solution just to go to a higher quality and just shell out the ridiculous price tag for a deadener such as second skins damplifier pro(does this not happen on this product?) ???? Thanks everyone

well anything that you put deadener on will be covered by body panels,also why did you use heat gun to apply,edead sticks without it very well,but there is no way to keep the butyl from bleeding,it does it on all types of deadener if put on with heatgun.

You could cover it with a light coat of the spray-on deadener;
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=268-250
It's not sticky when it dries.

1 can to spray over the sticky edges of the eDead = problem solved.

LOL Hoodie... your tc is about the only one I know that needs about 10 layers of that stuff...well, if you interior is still how I saw it last.

I tried using that stuff on my old tc b/c of my performance mods it was kinda loud even inside the car with the windows up... just my 2 cents...but how much of that you need to really do the trick vs. how expensive that material is... on my new 08 tc, I just said F-it I"ll just deal with the noise since I already have it modded too.

you should of gone with second skin

I used edead in my tc and was very upset when jun/july/august was around and the car was easily 110º for 5-6 hours a day.

The second skin held up to it with no problems at all

yes it costs more but it is well worth it

It is priced extremely high, that is the biggest downfall, 160sqft $550 + shipping(which is usually around $60-100 for this amount of weight) and thats usually what you will need to do the entire car thoroughly, so i wasnt able to proivde that kinda money. But anyways i got some damplifier pro for my trunk since edead would do HORRIBLE in that location, esp in texas.
