http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...e+SPR-17C.html

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...wer+T162C.html

are the focals REALLY worth that much more money over the alpines and rockfords? and between the alpines and rockfords which do you think is better?

Any help would be appreciated,

What car do you have? Because you have 3 coaxial options there... and you would REALLY be much better off with a component set for sound quality.

Get back to me

the stock speakers aren't bad but they aren't THAT good. but i do agree that getting a good head unit on the stock speakers will sound a hell of a lot better than using new speakers on the stock deck.

so if your still using the stock HU, swap it out with a nice one first.

I should have added that I have an aftermarket HU its the Pioneer DEH-P7900BT. I noticed a slight difference with the new HU. But IMO the TC's speakers are weak. thats why I really want to get some new ones in there.

Well are you willing to get components? The tC stock set is a component set so it only makes sense to replace it with a better component set...

For sound quality I would go with the Focal. I have the Focal 165V1 on the doors and the 165CV1 on the rear panels. All I can is very clean. Sound quality is hard to beat.

off brands kind of scare me. I'd rather get something from a big name then experiment with something ive never heard of ya know? thanks for your help guys. you sold me on components.

We don't all have the same ears...

I highly recommend you visit your nearest audio shop and hear/test the speakers for yourself.

Shopping by price/brand/opinions sucks when it comes to audio, imo.

For the $87 shipped that you can get a set of PG RSD components, it's worth it to check them out. I LOVE my set, even crossed passively they are amazing for the cost!

I'd take a look

Check on ebay for "phoenix gold rsd65cs", you might get lucky and get an $87 set brand new. Best $85 I ever spent :D

x3!!! I just visited a CarToys store and listened to Focals, Infinity Kappas, JLs and others. The Focals were very balanced while the Infinitys were too bright and harsh. Online, there are a lot of Infinity fanboys but thank god I went and listened to the speakers first.

LOL, Boston Acoustics is definitely NOT an "off brand". That specific set is most certainly intended for SQ, and a lot of people have won SQ competitions with the older Boston Pro series components. If you like them and they fit your budget, I'm sure you'd be pleased with their SQ.

As others have said, you really need to audition various brands/models yourself. However, it's preferable to listen in actual demo vehicles, because most speakers sound VERY different when mounted in a store's display room panel.
